Ongole: The AP Food Commission announced that the food security was according to the National Food Security Act, 2013. The Commission organised the first regional meeting for Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts in the town on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Food Commission Chairman J R Pushparaj warned the officials that severe action would be taken against the corrupt and lazy officials in implementing the schemes of government.

He said that the Commission reviews the working of every department that comes under the Food Security Act, like the essential commodities distributed through public distribution system, nutritious food for the children and women through Aanganwadi centers, midday meals at the schools, etc. Action would also be taken against those who were selling adulterated food, he added.

Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan welcomed the decision of the State government to establish the Food Commission and urged the general public to bring their grievances to the Commission to get them resolved.

Members of the Food Commission Swarna Geetha, Krishnamma, N Vijaya Kumar, B Venkat Rao and officials of the Nellore, Prakasam and Guntur districts also were present.
