Pithapuram: Women, BC leaders and activists staged a protest displaying empty pitchers at Yedukaluvala Veedhi here on Tuesday demanding not to include socially and financially well-developed Kapus among BCs.
Led by the leader of state-level movement for quota for the BCs Peddimsetty Venkateswara Rao, they addressed letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and urged them not to render injustice to the BCs by sanctioning quota for Kapus.
He lamented that Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham and Pithapuram MLA NVSN Varma kept mum when injustice is being meted out to the BCs. If the Kapus were to be listed among the BCs, they would trample other BCs in education and employment. The Kapus would benefit from the OBC quota of the Centre, he said and added that it would tantamount to rendering injustice to the BCs.
BC leaders Panumu Subba Rao, Geesala Satyanarayana, Kaki Abbulu, Medisetty Peddiraju, Vasamsetty Srinivasu, Kaki Ramana, Medisetty Durgababu and others took part.
