Vijayawada: Ganja smugglers are finding innovative ways to transport the Ganja from Agency areas of North Coastal Andhra or Khammam district to cities like Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai. Interestingly, most of these vehicles pass via Vijayawada, which is centrally located and connecting the national highways. The Task Force officials so far seized Ganja packets in 10 separate smuggling cases and arrested 63 persons accused of peddling Ganja in the last one year.

In a recent such incident, the Task Force police seized Swaraj Mazda truck transporting Ganja packets, which were kept beneath the floor of the truck.

A separate space has been created between the Chasis of the vehicle and flooring of the truck to hide the Ganja packets. The secrete space is not visible to any person. So, the Ganja smugglers are cleverly hiding the Ganja packets beneath the floor and easily transporting the Ganja.

On specific information, the City Task Force police on Sunday checked a Swaraj Mazda vehicle and seized 600 kg ganja packets worth Rs.30 lakh in Ibrahimpatnam. Disclosing the details of Ganja smuggling, the Task Force Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) A B V Prasad said on Monday it would be very difficult to notice the hidden ganja packets in the trucks. He said the Task Force police seized a vehicle and arrested the driver for transporting ganja.

He said the smugglers are finding innovative ways to smuggle ganja and misleading the police by changing tactics.
With the implementation of GST, commercial taxes department check posts were also lifted in many parts of the State. Consequently, the Ganja peddlers are easily transporting ganja by road.

Most of the Ganja smugglers transport ganja packets to Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai via Vijayawada.
The ACP said the Task Force officials detained 63 persons in connection with 10 Ganja smuggling cases in the State in the last one year.

City Task Force police even went to Agency areas in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram to arrest the Ganja smugglers, told the ACP. He said that the Task Force teams were keeping a vigil on the ganja peddlers and trying to check the smuggling.
