Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy informed that they had distributed loans worth Rs 6,000 under ‘Chandranna Pettubadi’ fund to women groups in the State and would also dispense another Rs.4,000 cr loans by October end.

He also said they would provide loans and ‘Streenidhi’ support to the women groups in the district without interest after deliberations with the State government.

Somireddy participated in the general body meeting of Mutually Aided Co-operative Society at DWACRA Bhavan in Thotapalli Gudur here on Monday.

He distributed saplings to the villagers under Vanam-Manam programme and planted some in the village. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had started women groups way back in 1995. After getting loans without interest from the banks these women groups were strengthened financially, he added.

The Minister also explained that Women Mutually Aided Co-operative Society in TP Gudur was formed in 1999 and there are 4,200 members in 350 groups in the society. The society has 12 directors.

The Society saved Rs 3.15 crore and is having deposits worth Rs 2.02 crore, said the Minister. He pointed out that it had earned Rs 12.46 lakh as profit during 2016-17.

Somireddy informed that 51 Anganwadi buildings have been under construction against 63 buildings sanctioned. He said that Rs.1.82 lakh was sanctioned to Dakkilivaripalem in TP Gudur Panchayat.

The Minister appealed to the people to construct and utilise individual toilets. Nellore stands second after West Godavari district in construction of individual toilets in the State.

Nellore in-charge RDO D Haritha, Assistant Director of Horticulture Uma Devi, Assistant Director of Agriculture Department Maruthi Devi, MRO Pullaiah, MPDO K Hemalatha and others were present.
