Namma toilets inaugurated

Vijayawada: Swachh Andhra Mission vice-chairman CL Venkata Rao on Tuesday inaugurated Namma toilets constructed for women near the Padmavati Ghat in Krishna Lanka. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has constructed the modular toilets, which are known as eco-friendly toilets, for the convenience of women. The civic body constructed the toilets keeping in view of the problems being faced by women due to lack of adequate toilets.

Speaking on the occasion, C L Venkata Rao said Namma modern toilets are clean. He felt such toilets should be built for womenfolk in other cities and municipalities of the state and congratulated the VMC for constructing the toilet exclusively for women.

Swachh Andhra Mission Managing Director D Muralidhar Reddy, said Namma toilets supply water 24 hours and provide adequate lighting for the convenience of users. He said people had misconception that municipal toilets don’t maintain hygiene. He suggested to the staff to maintain hygiene so that more people can be used. Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner J Nivas, Deputy mayor Gogula Venkata Ramana and others present on the occasion.
