In 24 hours, Nine patients die in government hospital

Nine patients, who were undergoing treatment at Anantapur government hospital died in the last 24 hours leading to a tense situation at the hospital.

The relatives of the victims raised protests at the hospital complaining that there were not enough doctors and those who were present were pressurised by work load which in turn resulted in the deaths.

They said that the hospital had 350 beds but the number of patients were nearly 1,000. Denying the lack of staff or facilities, the Hospital Superintendent said that most of the victims were old and suffered from chronic ailments of vital organs adding that they were referred by private hospitals at the last moment.
