Nellore: Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy advised the students not to ride vehicles without driving licence. Minister visited ‘Online LLR Mela’ organised by the Transport department at Priyadarshini Engineering College here on Tuesday.

Addressing the students, the Minister said that students have to apply for online test with a fee of Rs 260. ‘RTA authorities would provide LLRs to the students, who pass in the online test. Driving test would be conducted within the college premises utilising vehicles provided by the Transport department for issuing licences,’ he stated. Somireddy appealed to the students to utilise the opportunity for getting driving licences in a hassle-free way.

The Minister also informed that only 2.75 lakh commuters were only having valid driving licences against 5.15 lakh vehicles in the district. He also said that accident rate in the district had decreased due to the measures taken by the District SP PHD Ramakrishna.

Rate of accidents has decreased from 50 to 30 per month, he added. Deputy Transport Commissioner NS Prasad and others were present.
