The Union government has given its consent to lay a two-way national highway in the Agency areas of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts. An amount of Rs 2,000 crore will be spent on the 418-km length of the national highway.

Rajamahendravaram: The Union government has given its consent to lay a two-way national highway in the Agency areas of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts. An amount of Rs 2,000 crore will be spent on the 418-km length of the national highway.

According to Roads and Buildings Minister Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, the national highway commences from Rajamahendravaram and ends at Vizianagaram touching Gokavaram, Rampachodavaram, Addateegala, Rajavommangi, Chintapalli, Lambasingi, Paderu, Araku, Srungavarapukota and Vizianagaram.

The state government is keen to complete the national highway project without delay and extends its support to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). At present the two-way road is enough to cater to the needs of the traffic.
The adjacent areas of the national highway in the agency area will be developed aimed at bringing change in the lives of tribal community.

Moreover, the highway project will boost tourism sector in the agency area.Flyovers on the national highway at busy junctions at Diwanchervu, Lalachervu, Morampudi, Vemagiri, Kadiyapulanka and Jonnada were sanctioned.

Inspection of 67-km length of road between Gundugolanu and Kovvur was completed and an amount of Rs 4 crore was sanctioned to take up patchworks on the road.
