Polavaram mandal tahsildar in ACB net
The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials raided the Mandal Tahsildar Office of Polavaram mandal on Wednesday on charges of misappropriation of R and R funds package.
Eluru: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials raided the Mandal Tahsildar Office of Polavaram mandal on Wednesday on charges of misappropriation of R and R funds package.

The ACB team led by DSP P Gopalakrishna, CI UJ Wilson and Srinivas conducted raid on Polavaram Tahsildar and checked the files relating to the shifting of oustees of Polavaram irrigation project in vehicles. It is alleged that the Mandal Tahsildar office personnel including the Tahsildar Merugu Mukkanti have misappropriated Rs 80 lakh by showing transport charges of shifting of project oustees from their villages to another place.
The ACB officials have taken the numbers of vehicles that were said to have shifted the displaced people of project. They enquired at the Deputy Transport Commissioner office about the vehicles’ details. They also called on the vehicle owners to know if they have given the vehicles to shift the project displaced people. The vehicle owners denied shifting of oustees in their vehicles.
DSP Gopalakrishna said the Mandal Tahsildar had signed the file and submitted the expenditure bills to Collector for sanction. In his submission, the Mandal Tahsildar Mukkanti stated they have shifted the oustees in tractors and mini lorries to their allotted villages from their native places. The collector approved the bills’ file without knowing what had happened at ground level as the Jangareddigudem RDO cleared the expenditure file.
“We have to question more people in this regard. Basically, the ACB officials found Rs 80 lakh as misappropriated. After conducting thorough inquiry, we will submit a report to higher officials. We are suspecting that many people are involved in this misappropriation case and the amount may increase in further inquiry”, he stated. He said that some key documents and files have been seized as they contained the vital information.
