Srisailam Project: Special pujas were performed to Goddess Bhramaramba at the famous Srisailam temple on Tuesday on the sixth day of Sarannavaratri celebrations. The Goddess was decorated in the attire of Katyayini. Popular belief is that people can get rid of diseases, fears and sorrows if they worship the Goddess Katyayini. Legend is that Gopis worshipped this form of the Goddess to have Lord Krishna as their spouse.

A Pushpa Pallaki seva was performed to the deities using at least 400 kg of flowers and 1,000 cut flowers. On Tuesday, the hundi offerings at the Srisaila Mallikarjuna temple amounted to Rs 1.78 crore. Also, 260 grams of gold and 4 kg of silver were offered to the deities.

Apart from this, 377 US dollars, 62 Saudi Riyals, 10 UAE Dirhams, 5 Malaysian Ringets and Singapore dollars were among the foreign currencies offered to the deities. A Kuchipudi dance performance by Dr B Kiranmayi of Hyderabad and vocal recital by Ranjani Siva Kumar of Tamil Nadu were held.
