Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said the state government had earmarked Rs 20 crore for renovation works at Barashaheed Dargah premises in the city for the ensuing Roti festival from October 1. The Minister inspected the arrangements here on Tuesday. He said the state government had already announced the festival as an official one and added that 14 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the festival.

The Minister also said the Dargah would be developed as a tourism spot in the city with Rs 50 crore. Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, who visited the place, said the festival is being organised cutting across religions and castes for many decades.

Somireddy said that devotees from all over the country and abroad will visit Dargah this year. Not only Dargah, Swarnala Cheruvu would also be improved with the funds allocated for tourism development. The area would become a centre of attraction in the next two years, he said.

Somireddy stated the government made all arrangements for accommodation, safety, sanitation, and entertainment during the festival. Later, the Ministers offered prayers at the Dargah along with the Mayor Abdul Aziz. In-charge RDO D Haritha, MRO Narasimhulu, and others were present.
