Srikakulam: Sitampeta Agency in Srikakulam district would be a hub of tourism soon as eight projects proposed with Rs 6.35 crore out of which Rs 3.30 crore funds were sanctioned so far.

With the initiative taken up by the Sitampeta Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) project officer Lotheti Shiva Shankar, tourism projects were proposed. For the first time in the agency, a six-day long tourism festival will be held in Sitampeta from Wednesday to mark the World Tourism Day and it will be concluded on October 2.

With the funds, NTR JalaVihar, Children Park, development works at Mettuguda, Sunnapugedda waterfalls, two view-points at Polla, Jagatpilli, hill rock works at Chandramma temple and para-motoring at Paduru road in Sitampeta would be taken up.
Out of the eight projects, NTR Jala Vihar, Children Park and development at Mettuguda water fall were completed so far, para motoring with trick and glider project works are also in progress. Remaining four tourism works are in progress and awaiting release of funds. With the completion of the eight tourism projects works, Sitampeta Agency will attract tourists from other parts of the district and across the state as well.

For para-motoring with trick and glider, two-and-a- half acres land identified at Ravikelabanda and a runway required for flying and falling with gliders. Efforts are underway to start para- motoring on an experimental basis. ‘Our idea is to attract tourists to the agency area and they have to stay at least one-day here to see all these projects,” said ITDA project officer.
