Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister Akhila Priya and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao were present on the first day of the week-long Dusserawali celebrations being organised by AP Tourism Department here on Wednesday. Though the RK Beach Road wore a festive look for some time in the evening, rain played a spoilsport disturbing the well-planned celebrations. It was seen many people leaving the venue of the event located on the sea shore opposite Kalimatha temple.

Before the rain lashed, folk dances by tribals and Kuchipudi performances drew the attention of public. Later, Tourism Minister Akhila Priya, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Vizag MP K Haribabu spoke. District Collector Pravin Kumar and other district authorities took part in the celebrations, along with the citizens and tourists.

Beach walk flagged off

Marking the World Tourism Day, District Collector Pravin Kumar flagged off the AP Tourism’s week-long Dusserawali celebrations, which were started with Morning Mantra Walk at the RK Beach in the presence of VUDA Vice-Chairman P Basanth Kumar and other big shots in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the programmes are being organised as part of week-long celebrations on the picturesque RK Beach. Later in the day, events such as happy street and flash mobs at shopping malls took place.
