On the eighth day of Sri Bhramaramba Devi Sarannavaratra Mahotsavams here on Thursday the temple priests performed to the Goddess ‘chakrarchana’, ‘savanavarchana’. They offered to the presiding deity ‘mahanyasapurvaka ekadasa rudrabhishekam’, ‘rudra homam’, ‘rudrayaganda japam’, and ‘parayanam’.

In the evening, the priests offered ‘Navagraha mandaparadhana’, ‘Navagraha japanushtanam’, ‘panchakshari, ‘bramari’, ‘bala anushtanam’, ‘chandi parayanam’, ‘chaturveda parayanam’, ‘suryanamaskar, ‘Kumari pooja’, ‘madhyanha kalarchana’, ‘sahasranamarchana’, ‘japam’, ‘anushtanam’, ‘navavaranarchana’, ‘kunkumarchana’, ‘rudra homam’, ‘suvasini pooja’ and ‘Kalaratri pooja’ to the deities, Temple Executive officer Bharat Gupta said.
The Goddess appeared in Mahagowri Alankaram, the eighth in the ‘Navadurga Swarupalu’, before the devotees. The deity appeared as the most ‘shantamurthi’ dressed in whites. It is believed that the devotees who worship her are rid of all their woes and sins.
Girijan artists from Paderu, in Visakhapatnam district, and from Seethampet, in Srikakulam district, presented Dinsa, Mayura and Savara dances. To mark Durgashtami, ‘ayuda pooja’, including the various tools used for water supply and other tasks was conducted in the Devasthanam.
On September 29, Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishnamurthy will present ‘silk clothes’ on behalf of the State government to mark the Dasara festival. Prior to that, special poojas will be performed to the ‘vastralu’ near the temple ‘gopuram’. The Deputy CM will enter the temple along with ‘melathalalu’ and blessed by the Veda pandits and archakas. The ‘gramotsavam’ which was scheduled on Thursday postponed to Friday due to downpour.
