More than seven lakh devotees had the darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga on Indrakeeladri in the last eight days of Dasara celebrations. On Moolanakshatram Day, Wednesday, devotees thronged the temple since early morning and it continued till late night due to the Goddess adorned as Sri Saraswati Devi. It was estimated that more than 1.80 lakh devotees had darshan of goddess on Wednesday.

Vijayawada: More than seven lakh devotees had the darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga on Indrakeeladri in the last eight days of Dasara celebrations. On Moolanakshatram Day, Wednesday, devotees thronged the temple since early morning and it continued till late night due to the Goddess adorned as Sri Saraswati Devi. It was estimated that more than 1.80 lakh devotees had darshan of goddess on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the goddess was adorned in Sri Durga Devi Alankaram and the rush declined with attendance of 60,000 devotees by evening.

Addressing media here on Thursday, Temple Executive Officer A Surya Kumari said that more than 7 lakh devotees visited the Durga temple since September 21.

She said 26,866 devotees purchased Rs 300 special darshan tickets, 27,029 devotees purchased Rs100 special darshan tickets in the last eight days. She added that 7.40 lakh laddus and 3.37 lakh tamarind rice packets were sold to the pilgrims in the celebrations. Surya Kumari informed that free meals were served to more than 10,000 devotees on Thursday and adequate arrangements would be made for remaining two days of Dasara celebrations.
