Vijayawada: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Teppotsavam at Durga Ghat on Saturday evening to mark the end of the 10-day Dasara celebrations atop Indrakeeladri. Hamsa Vahanam is ready for the boat ride of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy in Krishna river at 6 pm. Hamsa Vahanam has been colourfully decorated and illuminated with lighting for the grand event to be attended by Ministers, officials and devotees.

The temple administration will conduct the annual Teppotsavam on a grand manner in Krishna river. Expert swimmers and NDRF teams will be put on high alert on the occasion of Teppotsavam. Tight security will be posted to prevent any untoward incident. Special invitees with passes will be allowed to attend the annual event.

Meanwhile, the Dasara celebrations continued on Indrakeeladri on Friday as more than 70,000 devotees visited the temple for darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga. The Friday’s alankaram Mashishasura Mardini has special significance due to killing of Mahishasura.

Devotees, who stood in the queue lines, faced hardships for one hour due to unexpected rain in the afternoon. The district officials monitored the arrangements since morning and darshan continued as usual till night.
