Vijayawada: Devotees, who came to the city for having darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga, were stuck in storm water on Krishna Lanka Highway due to sudden downpour in the afternoon on Friday.

Nearly four feet water logged on the Krishna Lanka Highway connecting Pandit Nehru Bus Station and Rajiv Gandhi Park which is the path to reach the Durga temple.

Hundreds of devotees came to Pandit Nehru Bus Station from different areas waded through the stagnated rain water under the railway track at Krishna Lanka, Near Pandit Nehru Bus Station Road. The corporation failed to resolve the water logging menace under the railway tracks at Krishna Lanka as well as near K Market for many decades.

Similarly, common people and devotees faced hardships due to traffic jam at the low bridge and K Market in the afternoon. Hundreds of vehicles stranded from Police Control Room to Gandhiji Municipal High School on BRP Road as traffic gone haywire due to sudden downpour. Many people stuck in the traffic and waited more than an hour to move towards the Panja Centre and Chitti Nagar. Traffic police after one hour normalcy was restored.
