Irrespective of class and creed, the people of Vizag and surroundings always enjoy the festival with red meat and liquor. As per the previous records, they gulped down liquor worth over Rs 7 crore in just four days during the Dasara festival in 2016.
An official from the excise department said they were expecting bumper sale of liquor which could touch around Rs 10 crore during the Dasara season as the employees were given holidays from September 28. Most of the employees received their salaries on Thursday and Friday, a good gesture from the management.
The sale momentum picked up from Friday and many winebibbers have been planning to store some spirit for October 2.
Liquor shops at Peda Waltair, Jodugullapalem, Jagadamba Centre, Gajuwaka, RTC Complex, Akkayapalem drew huge crowds since Friday morning.
