Hyderabad: The Met department bulletin warned on Friday that heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all Rayalaseema districts on September 30. It said thunderstorms associated with heavy rain occurred at isolated places across Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday, the southwest monsoon was active over Rayalaseema. Rainfall occurred at many places in the region as the upper air cyclonic circulation over the northern parts of Telangana and its neighbourhood extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level is persisting.

Heavy rain of 10 cm lashed Jupadu Bungalow in Kurnool district. While Aspari and Alur in Kurnool district recorded seven cm of rain each, there was six cm in Koilkuntla and five cm each in Holagunda, Nandikotkur and Banaganapalle areas in the district. Kondapuram in Kadapa also recorded 5 cm. Rain also occurred at a few places in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Darsi (Prakasam), Narsapuram (West Godavari), Atlur (Kadapaah) 4 each, Amalapuram (East Godavari), Bestavaripeta (Prakasam), Mundlamuru ( Prakasam), Dharmavaram (Anantapur), Pagidyala, Allagadda (both Kurnool), Nallamada (Anantapur), Rajupalem (Kadapa), Dhone (Kurnool), Penukonda (Anantapur), Chapad and Proddutur (both Kadapa 3 each.

There was two cm of rain each in Yerragondapalem, Vinjamur, Markapur, Konakanamitla, Santhipuram, Punganur, Penagaluru, Madakasira, Owk, Srisailam, Thambalapalle, Kunurpi, Rajampet and Pattikonda. According to the forecast, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema from September 30 to October 3. No large change during the subsequent three days is the weather outlook.
