Markets across the Srikakulam district are wear a festive look in the wake of Dasara festival as people believe that purchasing new goods will bring wealth and prosperity to them.
Srikakulam: Markets across the Srikakulam district are wear a festive look in the wake of Dasara festival as people believe that purchasing new goods will bring wealth and prosperity to them.
They are showing more interest towards purchasing of electronic goods, four-wheelers, two wheelers, cell phones and also clothes, especially ready-made. With an aim to attract customers, various goods merchants are announcing a price discount and monthly installment schemes in addition to free gifts.
Customers also are being attracted towards free gifts and discount schemes than monthly payment installment facilities. Merchants are charging a higher price than the actual for the monthly installment schemes as consumer have to pay it with interest which is automatically high than actual cost.
Around 2,000 two-wheeler bikes have been purchased so far from showrooms of different automobile companies across the district in the wake of Dasara festival. Business turnover of electronic goods like TV, refrigerators, cell phones, etc, crossed more than Rs 100 crore till Friday.
Consumer behavior was also peculiar during festive seasons as they are making prior inquiries in all relevant shops over discount schemes and free gift offers before purchasing new goods. “Every year, we are purchasing new goods before Dasara festival this year we purchased LED TV after verifying offers in the market,” said a housewife of Illisupuram, T Anuradha.
“This year’s Dasara season is better to some extent for cloth merchants as sales have improved this time,” cloth merchants district association president, P. Srinivas explained.
“People are showing more interest on gearless bikes and on new feature bikes,” Hero showroom managing director and AP chamber of commerce director, A. Vara Prasad explained.
