Amaravati: Minister for Information Technology Nara Lokesh directed officials to take steps to arrange a cyber security operation centre in the State in view of growing cyber attacks worldwide

Addressing a review meeting at Secretariat on Friday, Lokesh said the state has to take a lead in undertaking advanced research in combating cyber crime and cyber security related issues.

“Cyber criminals are trying to hack the government information using software such as ransomware. Andhra Pradesh is highly vulnerable to cyber attacks as the government is in advanced stage in using information technology for every day government affairs”, he said.

He also said data security would be the prime objective in establishing cyber security operation centre. “Officials should study the existing cyber security operation centres in various countries and take steps to establish the security operation centre in the state as soon as possible”, he said.

He also suggested officials to hold consultations with police department when formulating cyber security system in the State.
Lokesh said there would be a possibility to overcome dangerous games such as Blue Whale and such kind of dangerous cyber crimes should be detected in advance.
