Munagala: In a gory incident, six persons died and 14 others sustained severe injuries when the bus they are travelling hit a stationary lorry at Maddelacheruvu village in Mungala mandal of Suryapet district during wee hours of Sunday.

According to Munagala SI Nagesh, the RTC Luxury bus of Avanigadda depot in Andhra Pradesh bearing number AP 16Z0216 bound to Hyderabad hit the stationary lorry, when the bus driver tried to overtake another bus. The breakdown lorry was being repaired.

In this incident, half of the bus was completely damaged and six passengers, including the driver of the lorry, died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Edukondalu (driver), Rani from Hyderabad, Sattaiah of Suryapet (working as RTC driver in Kodad depot), Vara Prasad, Murali Prasad and Banthi Kutumba Rao of Avanigadda of Krishna district. The injured were shifted to Suryapet, Kodad and Hyderabad hospitals for treatment.

Suryapet SP Prakash Jadav visited the spot and enquired about the accident from the passengers. About 36 passengers are said to be travelling in the bus when the accident took place. The Munagala police registered a case and took up investigation.
