Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh flagged off the Durga Maatha Shobha Yathra Rally at Sankalbagh colony and immersion event conducted at Durga Ghat. Meanwhile, the MP offered prayers to Goddess Durga Maatha. Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesh said earlier the number was very less and gradually, by every passing year, the idol numbers has drastically increased.

This number is likely to go up in the coming years, he said and added the idol immersion is taking place successfully for 15 years. During the entire stretch of rally up to Durga Maatha immersion ghat, people raised slogans, Bholo Durga Maata Ki Jai. The streets in the town reverberated with spiritual music.

Inspector General of Police (IG) S Mohammed Iqbal, DIG G Srinivas, Kurnool MLA, SV Mohan Reddy, Kurnool Urban Development Authority Chairman (KUDA),Somisetty Venkateswarlu, District Collector S Satyanarayana, Joint Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh, Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jetti and others took part in the immersion programme.
