Srikakulam: Devotees of Sri Suryanarayana Swamy (Sun God) were disappointed at Arasavalli temple for the second consecutive day on Monday as sun rays did not touch the presiding deity.

Every year sun rays illuminate the deity on March 9 and 10 and October 1 and 2 when sun moves towards north from south (Uttarayanam) and from north to south (Dakshinayanam). However, due to dark overcast sky in the wake of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, sun did not appear and rays did not touch the shrine on both Sunday and Monday.

Devotees from far and near reached the Arasavalli temple by 5 am in the last two days to witness the auspicious event. Sun rays illuminate the idol from bottom to top for a duration of more than two minutes.

Devotees believe that darshan of the deity at the time of illumination through sun rays would provide health and wealth to them.
