Heavy rains crippled normal life in the city on Thursday. Rain started early in the morning and continued for a long time drenching the school and college going students. Some private schools declared a holiday following heavy rain in the morning.
Vijayawada: Heavy rains crippled normal life in the city on Thursday. Rain started early in the morning and continued for a long time drenching the school and college going students. Some private schools declared a holiday following heavy rain in the morning.
Rainwater inundated several low-lying areas at One Town, Besant Road, Suryaraopet, Ajit Singh Nagar, Payakapuram and some areas at R K Puram. Some roads were waterlogged at Surayaraopet and Singh Nagar areas. Students going to schools and colleges and employees had harrowing experience.
When the rainwater stagmatd on the road, two-wheeler riders, pedestrians faced lot of problems to reach their destinations. In the absence of proper drainage system, rainwater stagnated on the busy Besant Road, Suryaraopet and other localities. In Suryaraopet side rains overflowed due to rainwater.
Water logged at Suryaraopet, Nakkala Road and Pushpa Hotel Centre. Children went to the schools wading through knee deep rain water. Similarly, rainwater logged at the Municipal Corporation Stadium area, Sub-Collector Office areas and near RTC Bus Stand area.
