Thousands of devotees thronged to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Sri Venkateswara of Dwaraka Tirumala performed at Srivari Aniveti Mandapam on Wednesday.


Dwaraka Tirumala: Thousands of devotees thronged to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Sri Venkateswara of Dwaraka Tirumala performed at Srivari Aniveti Mandapam on Wednesday.

The temple priests decorated the Kalyana Vedika and placed the bridegroom Lord Sri Venkateswara and brides Sridevi, Bhudevi on the Tolakka Vahanam, decorated with flowers. The temple priests brought Lord Sri Venkateswara and goddesses Sri Devi and Bhudevi to Kalyana Vedika amid the vedic hymns chanted by Veda pundits and students of Agama Pathasala (Vedic school) and placed them on the silver throne. On the auspicious time of the wedding, the temple priests placed the cumin and jaggery (Jeelakarra, bellam) on the heads of the groom and brides. Later the Mangalyadharana and Talambralu ceremony has been performed.

Trust Board Chairman SV Sudhakara Rao presented silk clothes to Lord Sri Venkateswara on behalf of temple. Endowments Joint Commissioner and Temple Executive Officer Vendra Trinadha Rao, APCO Director Satyanarayana presented the silk clothes on behalf of AP government to Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi.

West Godavari District Principal Sessions Judge G Sunitha, Family Court Judge K Sridevi witnessed the Kalyanotsavam.

After the Kalyanotsavam, Lord Sri Venkateswara along with his consorts Sridevi, Bhudevi rode on Garuda Vahanam in the Mada streets. On the occasion, the priests performed Gaja Seva. The Devasthanam conducted cultural programmes on the occasion of Kalyanotsavam.
