Valmiki, an inspiration to many

Kakinada: Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi said that from a primitive hunter to an ideal social human being, the life of Valmiki and his writings were an inspiration to our nation from ages.

Participating as chief guest at Valmiki’s birth anniversary celebrations held at Rural Praja Parishad office under the aegis of BC Welfare department here on Thursday, the MLA said that Valmiki rose from a primitive tribal hunter to a well-learned person and his famous writing “Ramayana” is magnum opus that shaped many people’s lives.

She also said the State government has been celebrating Valmiki Jayanti since 2014 as a state festival every year.Presiding over the programme, Joint Collector Radha Krishna Murthy said that sage Valmiki has proved in Treta Yuga that with right values and virtues, one can reach highest position in life.

He further said that Mahatma Gandhi, Jyotiba Phule, BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagajjivan Ram were influenced by the writings of Valmiki that drove them to work for upliftment of downtrodden in the society. He also informed that the government is committed to development of poor and to create a caste-free society.
