50,000 cr CEZ in AP soon: Industries Minister

Tirupati: After emerging as the leading State in India for doing business, Andhra Pradesh is now benchmarking with the global best practices to further improve the business environment in the State.

The State government is committed to provide a conducive investment climate for investors and has undertaken several initiatives in this direction, said Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy. He inaugurated a regional interactive meet on Ease of Doing Business (EODB) here on Friday. Industrialists from four districts of Rayalaseema and Nellore district along with the officials of 10 related departments have attended the meet.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, a key driver of the conducive business environment is the Single Desk Portal (SDP), to eliminate interference of multiple departments. SDP serves as a one stop shop for providing regulatory approvals to industries in AP within 21 days, he said and added that more than 22,000 approvals have been provided from the launch of portal in April 2015. Amaranatha Reddy said that the government has put in lot of efforts to attract investments from India and abroad.

In some cases, the permissions were provided even in 15 days whereas in some other cases, it took more time, he explained. The Minister said the purpose of the discussion here is to identify the problems in various departments that are responsible for delays and to pluck them. Industrial friendly atmosphere is prevailing in the State as the government had succeeded in providing 24-hour power supply, the Minister stated and informed plenty of land is available in Rayalaseema region.

The State has advantage with coastal corridor, Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Chennai-Bengaluru industrial corridors, Amaranatha Reddy said. He disclosed it was almost decided to establish Coastal Employment Zone in the State. The Central government was contemplating to establish two such zones in the country, one in North India and the other one in South India. The zone allocated to South India zone may be established between Rayalaseema and Nellore districts. It will be established in an area of 50,000 square km with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.

There is enormous focus on MSMEs and it was decided to establish one MSME park in each constituency. The parks will provide employment opportunities for those with lower academic qualifications. To fulfil the task of setting up MSME parks in every segment, the Minister said the government will establish a MSME Corporation soon. Industries department Secretary Solomon Arokia Raj, Industries Commissioner Siddarth Jain, District Collector PS Pradyumna and APIIC MD Babu A also spoke.
