Eluru: Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Energy Rajkumar Singh said that the BJP has stick to its stand in respect of alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing media here on Saturday, the Union Minister while replying to a question, said the TDP and BJP are good friends and partners.
“I don’t see any change in the BJP stand. TDP and BJP are good partners. We remain as good friends. In future, I don’t see any change in the BJP stand on coalition,” he said adding that “as far as I know in 2019 too, the coalition will continue.”

Referring to simultaneous elections to parliament and assemblies in the states, the
Minister said the Election Commission had already announced that the simultaneous elections would be conducted with the consensus from all parties.
The Minister justified the Centre’s decision on GST and said that all parties have unanimously passed the GST Bill in the parliament. “We have to adjust to the new changes. It will take some time to yield results. With the GST, the goods will become cheaper and all will come under one tax,” he said and added in the long-run, the GST will benefit the states and Centre.

When asked about falling of growth rate to 5.7 percent in the country, he said it would take some time to adjust to structural changes.
On criticism of Congress that the growth rate in electricity sector declined, the Minister said that the energy sector has recorded 6.8 percent growth in power, which is higher than the growth rate of UPA.

For the past three years, one lakh megawatt generation capacity has been recorded in the energy sector, he added.

The Minister said he came here to know the implementation of Central schemes in the parliamentary constituencies in the State.

He said an internal meeting with key leaders and workers was conducted to know how the Central schemesimplementation going on in Eluru, Rajahmundry, Amalapuram, Bapatla, Narasaropetaand Machilipatnam parliamentary constituencies.

He said that the party has appointed him to monitor the implementation of the schemes in these six constituencies.

Stating that the BJP is working to solve the problems of people, he said the benefits of schemes started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi should reach the beneficiaries.

Former minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, BJP state president K Haribabu anddistrict president BhSrinivasa Raju participated.
