8 new stadia for Guntur dist: Kollu
The Brahmananda Reddy Stadium will be developed under PPP model and draft proposal is being prepared at an estimated budget of Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore, said Kollu Ravindra, Minister of Law, Sports and Youth Services.Â

He was addressing the media here on Saturday after inspecting the five decades old stadium.
The government is determined to improve the conditions on par with international standards and to make it as the number one in the country, he added.
Minister elaborated the plans of the state government and said the rebuilding work will be completed by December 2018. He explained that there are proposals to build a stadium in each and every Assembly constituency and in Guntur district eight constituencies were allotted stadia with a budget of Rs 2 crore per each stadium.
P Pulla Rao, Minister for Civil Supplies, said the historical BR Stadium will be developed under PPP model and to create more sportive spirit among the youth, the government will construct mini-stadiums in all the constituencies. Nakka Anandbabu, Minister for Social and Tribal Welfare, said the stadium will be built with all amenities to realise the dream of the Chief Minister to make Amaravati as an international city.
He reminded that the government has declared its sports policy.
LV Subramanyam, Special Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, said though it was built in 1967, the stadium was deprived of infrastructure.
Hence, the government has opted for the PPP model to give a facelift to the stadium. Bangarraju, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, earlier demonstrated the future plan of action through a PowerPoint presentation and all the dignitaries inspected the conditions in and around the stadium.
Shaik Johnnymoon, Chairperson, Zilla Parishad, Kona Sasidhar, District Collector, M VenugopalaReddy, Mustafa, local Legislators C Anuradha, Commissioner of Guntur Municipal Corporation and others were present.
