BJP attack on CPM office condemned

Visakhapatnam: The all-party leaders condemned the BJP cadres, for attacking the CPM party office near Jagadamba Junction in the city on Saturday and termed the move as undemocratic.

“In a calm city like Visakhapatnam, the BJP resorting to violence-driven politics is a shame on its part. More than 200 party workers, along with leaders, attempting to attack another party office is something new culture started by BJP in the region. These actions motivated with violence will surely spoil the peaceful image of Vizag,” said the statement released by CPI, Congress, YSRCP, CPM, CPI(ML) – New Democracy, Lok Satta and BSP. The all-party leaders criticised the police for allowing the BJP workers and leaders to take out a rally and reach the CPM office.

“How come the police officers gave permission to BJP for a rally, when the same was denied for Opposition parties, Left parties and civil society groups to take out a rally on people’s issues,” they questioned.

Also, it was demanded that the criminal cases be registered against those who were involved in attacks. They demanded that the authorities take steps for avoiding repetition of similar incidents.

Criticising the BJP leaders for initiating attacks on the CPM office, trade unions – INTUC, IFTU, CITU and AITUC condemned the action of saffron party cadres.
