Inter girl ends life due to harassment by Sr Inter student

Vijayawada: In a tragic incident, an Intermediate first year girl student committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Tiruvuru on Saturday due to alleged harassment of a senior Inter student studying in the same college. Incidentally, the victim and the accused both are minors.

According to Tiruvuru police, an Intermediate first year CEC student K Venkata Kumari studying in Government Junior College consumed pesticide at her residence at Narmada Nagar in Vissannapeta mandal in the morning and went to college where she breathed her last.

She told the lecturers that she had consumed pesticide due to harassment of a senior Inter student studying in the same college. Venkata Kumari’s father K Pullaiah, a daily wage worker, and her brother Siva is a bike mechanic. Aghast with the incident, the family members lodged a complaint with Tiruvuru police about the harassment. Under the supervision of Circle Inspector K V Satyanarayana, Sub-Inspector P V Suresh registered a case against the accused and took up investigation.

A pal of gloom descended on the junior college over the tragic death of minor girl student in the college. Post-mortem was conducted at the local Government Hospital in Tiruvuru and body was handed over to the parents. The accused was taken into custody for questioning.
