Guntur: The Arya Vysya community reiterated their demand for the arrest of controversial author Kanche Ilaiah and an unconditional apology from the writer. Several Vysya Unions assembled here on Sunday and announced their future plan of action against the book.

Chalo Kakinada on October 11 is one among them. The Vysya community leaders extended their support for the programme which was inititiated by Sivaswamy of Viswadharma Parirakshana Vedika. A Anjaneyulu, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Guntur unit, said that the governments of the two Telugu States had failed to contain the Ilaiah’s book and his inciting remarks.

He added no political party was involved in the agitation of Arya Vysyas and it is unwarranted to bring political affiliation. The Chief Ministers of two Telugu States are playing to the galleries by claiming that they have a word with the respective DGPs, he criticised. Police officers are employees of the government, if their political bosses has no willing to arrest Prof Ilaiah they are helpless, he pointed out.

Gaurishanker, urban president of Arya Vysya Sangham, said that the professor who claimed to be an learned man forgot the services of the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Potti Sriramulu. He again invited Ilaiah for a debate on the issue in Guntur and said if the author is really committed to his writings, he must attend the round-table conference without hesitation.
