Addressing the gathering at Moturu Hanumantha Rao’s birth centenary celebrations at MB Vignana Kendram here on Sunday, he said the Union government was ruling the country by implementing anti-people’s policies and undemocratic methods.
The public in UK and several European countries were getting united and fighting against the governments, he said and added that the Union government would face a similar situation in near future.
He wondered how the government was taking unilateral decisions with regard to defence and foreign policies without discussing with Opposition parties. He said that the BJP rule was similar to that of the previous Congress-led UPA government rule.
He also pointed out that members of RSS were being appointed to various important positions including posts of Vice-Chancellors in universities.
Expressing concern over the commercialisation of politics, he said that several business persons including those from real estate and mafia were entering politics.
Strongly opposing the policies of the Modi government, he took strong objection to the plans of privatising the railways, defence and banking sectors. He demanded that the government should withdraw privatisation plans immediately.
He lambasted the Centre for its failure to prevent attacks on innocent persons by the Gau Rakshaks. “The BJP government claimed the surgical strikes as its victory but attacks by terrorists have increased now,” he pointed out.
He pointed out that the farmers were agitating across the country thus exposing the NDA government’s failure to protect their interests. He said in protest against the anti-people’s policies of the Centre, the Left parties and people’s associations would stage an agitation in New Delhi for three days beginning from November 9. He said it was also being planned to call for a nationwide strike later.
Paying rich tributes to Moturu Hanumantha Rao, Karat called upon the CPM activists to follow his footsteps. CPM state secretary P Madhu, Moturu’s relatives Dr Usha, Dr Ranga Rao and several party leaders were present.
