In a warning to Andhra Pradesh, the Met department bulletin cautioned that thunderstorms associated with heavy rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in all coastal districts and thunderstorms, with lightning, are likely to lash all districts of Rayalaseema on Monday. It said thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain occurred at isolated places in all districts of the state on Sunday.
Hyderabad: In a warning to Andhra Pradesh, the Met department bulletin cautioned that thunderstorms associated with heavy rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in all coastal districts and thunderstorms, with lightning, are likely to lash all districts of Rayalaseema on Monday. It said thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain occurred at isolated places in all districts of the state on Sunday.
The bulletin said a low-pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining south Bangladesh under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level. The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and its neighbourhood now extends up to 3.6 km above the mean sea level.
Also the upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood now lies over the adjoining south-central Maharashtra and south Konkan, extending up to 3.1 km above the mean sea level. Besides, the trough from the upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and the adjoining Maharashtra and south Konkan to Odisha across Telangana and south Chhattisgarh extends up to 1.5km above the mean sea level.
The bulletin stated that during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, the southwest monsoon was normal over the coastal districts and active in Rayalaseema. Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, with Rajahmundry in East Godavari district recording eight cm of rainfall.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Vijayawada Airport, Koyyalagudem (West Godavari), Sattenapalle (Guntur), Kadiri (Anantapur) 5 each, Visakhapatnam Airport, Atmakur (Nellore), Pulivendla, Muddanur (both in Kadapa), Ramagiri (Anantapur), Holagunda (Kurnool), Kalyandrug (Anantapur), Rudravaram (Kurnool), Amarapuram (Anantapur) 4 each.
There was three cm of rain each in Mentada (Vizianagaram), Tekkali (Srikakulam), Bhimadole (West Godavari), Karamchedu (Prakasam), Chintur (East Godavari), Santhamaguluru (Prakasam), Gudivada (Krishna), Obuladevaracheruvu, Tanakal (both Anantapur), Proddutur (Kadapa), Chilamathur, Nallamada (both in Anantapur).
Two cm of rain each occurred in Paderu, Avanigada, Atchampet, Amalapuram, Gajapathinagaram, Vepada, Prathipadu, Tadepalligudem, Palakoderu, Peddapuram, Ardhaveedu, Polavaram, Nambulipulikunta, Gorantla, Utukuru, Amadagur, Chapad, Lepakshi, Settur, Tadipatri, Simhadripuram, Kadapa and Yemmiganur.
