Truck operator held for manhandling cop

Vijayawada: Ibrahimpatnam police arrested truck operator J Parthasarathi on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a constable, who was on duty at Ibrahimpatnam ring junction, for obstructing a tipper that was proceeding from Ibrahimpatnam to Vijayawada at 10.30 pm on Saturday night.

Constable K Ramana was allegedly manhandled and abused by the truck operator when the constable was doing his duty as per the rule and not allowing the heavy vehicle to move towards the city.

Ibrahimpatnam police are allowing vehicles after 12 at midnight towards Vijayawada on the national highway. Keeping in view of the road accidents taking place on the highways and other roads, the police are strictly maintaining timings on plying heavy vehicles.

When the constable obstructed the heavy truck carrying load of gravel, the truck operator J Parthasarathy, who is the Telugu Desam Party supporter and follower of local TDP leader, manhandled and abused the cop at the busy Ibrahimpatnam junction.

Other constables present on the duty tried to convince the truck operator to wait some more time to ply the vehicle there was no response from the TDP supporter. The entire incident was shot in a mobile phone and produced before the police. Ibrahimpatnam CI D Chavan said that the accused was arrested and produced in the court for manhandling and creating hurdles to the police from doing their duty. He said a cop lodged a complaint with the police about Parthasarathi.
