Vijayawada: Commissioner of School Education, K Sandhaya Rani said that there was an urgent need to make changes in the curriculum to improve the quality of education. She addressed a meeting held on “ICT Curriculum Adoption Workshop” held at the Tagore Library in the city on Monday in collaboration with CIET, NCERT.

Speaking on the occasion, she explained the steps taken by the State government to improve educational standards and how they were using technology in the schools. She said that they have started digital classes in the State and added that so far they have started over 2,200 schools in the State.

She said, they would start some more digital classes in all districts very soon and added that they have already started to organise virtual classes. Furthermore, she said that Chittoor district was in the forefront in conducting digital classes and added that Prakasham district officials was actively setting up digital classrooms to impart quality education to the students.

She said that NRIs were also extending a helping hand to start digital classrooms in schools. She said that they were taking suggestions and advice from the SCERT Professors, DIET lecturers, education departments officials in the other States to improve the curriculum making it suitable to the needs of students and teachers.

She said, they were studying the system which were implemented in other states to improve quality of curriculum and teachers. She said, the curriculum should improve intelligence and knowledge of the students.

Andhra Pradesh Skills Development Corporation CEO, Ganta Subba Rao outlined the steps taken by the APSDC to improve skills of the youth and felt that there was a need to improve skills of the students. He felt that there was a need to design curriculum to suit needs of the present day. University of Baroda Prof Pushpanatham, SIET official T.Yugandhar Reddy and Prof SS Lakshmi Watts were present on the occasion.
