Ongole: Noted playwright, actor and dialogue writer of Tollywood MVS Haranatha Rao passed away in Ongole on Monday at the age of 69. He is survived by wife and three children. He is best known for his dialogues in award-winning films like Swayamkrushi, Pratighatana and Sutradharulu, etc.

Haranatha Rao is born on July 27, 1948 and studied in Guntur. Noted filmmaker T Krishna welcomed him into films identifying his talent as an theatre artist. Though being an actor since childhood, MVS played only important roles in movies but continued writing for the films.

He is the dialogue writer of almost all films directed by his friend, Krishna. The influence of Kodavatiganti Kutumba Rao, Gora and Athreya is evident and reflected in the works of stage plays like Raktabali, Jagannatha Ratha Chakralu, Antham Kadidi Arambham, etc.

MVS wrote dialogues for more than 150 films in his long career. His work for Pratighatana, Bharatanari, Desamlo Dongalu Paddaru, Devalayam, Repati Pourulu, Yuddha Bhumi, Dharma Chakram and others won accolades of critics and received many awards. He received the Nandi Award for his dialogues in Pratighatana, Bharatanari, Anna, Ammayi Kapuram. His wife Koteswaramma retired as a teacher from PVR Girls School.
