Addressing a gathering, Narayana said the state government has been implementing the crop loan waiver scheme without support from the Reserve Bank of India.

The main aim of the government is to support farming community for their enjoyable professional activity and hence they had disregarded even financial burden on the government, he added and said they were trying to conserve water for improving for more acreage in the state through Neeru Chettu programme.

He said they had planned to divert Godavari water from Polavaram and Pattiseema projects to Krishna River and then they would be linked to Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs for the benefit of farmers. MLC Beeda Ravichandra said no other state except AP is implementing loan waiver scheme.

Gudur legislator P Sunil Kumar said names of people whose loans were waived would be displayed at all Gram Panchayat offices. He stated 7,258 farmers in the constituency were benefitted with the waiver. In-Charge Collector A Md Imtiaz said 1.93 lakh farmers to the tune of Rs 186 crore was being extended.

Further, the Minister visited houses constructed as part of the NTR housing scheme at Gandhi Nagar along with officials and political leaders. Gudur Municipal Chairman P Devasenamma, ZPTC member B Padma, and others were present.
