Visakhapatnam: The Pothinamalayyapalem police on Monday arrested Garikina Narasinga Rao, who grabbed government land and erected a shed and taken up plantation programme in an extent of 70 cents in survey number 19 of Rushikonda.

According to ACP North Nageswara Rao, the police had registered a case against the accused after receiving a complaint from Tahsildar N Bhaskareedy. According to the complaint from the Tahasildar, accused Narasinga Rao entered the government land with a total extent of 3.97 acres and occupied 70 cents. Later he constructed a shed and erected fencing around the land.

The ACP said the accused conspired with other accused Sunil Kumar Agarwal and Chekuri Sudhakar Raju of Hyderabad and hatched plan to regularise the occupied land by creating a fabricated Adangal copy in the name of a woman Garikina Yelamaji. Later, he created a GPA in favour of Sunil Kumar Agarwal and Yelamaji son G Venkata Ravindra Sai. The accused presented the fabricated documents at Anandapuram sub-registrar office for registration.

However, Anandapuram sub-registrar rejected the application to register as the total land belongs to government and alerted the Tahasildar. During the verification, the revenue officials found that the accused grabbed the land and lodged a complaint. The accused being produced before special court for land grabbing cases, the ACP said.
