Cops face enquiry heat as complaints pile up

Vijayawada: A sub-inspector of police, Vijay Kumar, working in Nuzvid town police station landed in trouble for allegedly sexually harassing a married woman asking her to fulfil his physical desires. The victim vexed with the attitude of the Sub-inspector, lodged a complaint to the Krishna district Superintendent of police S Tripathi on Tuesday.

The woman has recorded the conversation which took place between her and the sub inspector in her mobile and presented it as proof to the district SP, who reportedly expressed ire on the Sub-Inspector for bringing discredit to the police department and ordered for a probe on the incident.

The married woman has recently met the Sub-inspector in the police station in Nuzvid to lodge a complaint about the missing Service Register of her husband working in APSRTC. As part of the investigation, the SI visited the residence of the woman and been asking her to fulfil his desire.

She pleaded the SI that she would face many problems if her husband knew the matter. She repeatedly begged the SI to stop harassing and making it clear she hails from a decent family and she would not comply with his demands.

But, the SI allegedly persisted with his overtures. In spite of her repeated requests, the Sub-inspector was firm in his decision and tried to exert pressure on her. The SP has ordered for a probe on the allegations levelled by the woman, on the SI who is on leave for two days.

In another case, a SI of Hanuman Junction was suspended was allegedly having links with a beautician. The images of SI with the beautician became viral in social media leading to the suspension of the SI nearly 10 days ago. Higher officials are unhappy with the misdeeds of sub-ordinates and punishing the latter with punishments like suspension or sending them to VR.
