Addressing a review meeting along with Minister for Rural Housing Kalava Srinivasulsu at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Lokesh said 70 mini stadia were targeted to be built in villages but the progress of construction was disappointing.

“The State government allotted funds for the mini stadia and play fields with an objective to train youth in villages in games and sports. The infrastructure will provide an opportunity to them to turn into good players at State and National level games and sports,” he said.

He also directed officials of the Panchayat Raj department to expedite rural housing programme and achieve the target of 1.52 lakh houses soon.
He said that priority should be given to the completion of pending houses in rural areas.

Rural Housing Minister Srinivasulu said the Chief Minister has set a target for the rural housing department to complete construction of five lakh houses. When Srinivalsu sought additional funds for 2.5 lakh houses, Lokesh suggested to him to take the matter to the notice of Chief Minister.

Approach road works to SC colonies and new roads for SC colonies where road facility was not there till now would be given priority, he said. Funds would be released for those works soon, he said. Lokesh also reviewed works of Anganwadi buildings.
