Srikakulam: Police foiled ‘Chalo Vamsadhara’ agitation by arresting all opposition parties leaders on second consecutive day on Tuesday. All the left parties, CPM, CPI, CPI (ML-ND) and its affiliated unions and prime opposition party YSRCP called for agitation against state government approach towards Vamsadhara displaced people on Tuesday.

In the wake of the agitation police made preventive arrests of all left parties leaders and its affiliated unions on Monday. Again on Tuesday police detained YSRCP leaders at their houses and party offices. As a result agitation did not get support from the public.

YSRCP, left parties and its affiliated unions decided to conduct huge rally from Srikakulam to Hirmandal mandal headquarters and planned to stage agitation there by protesting government’s approach towards displaced people in payment of resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) package.

On Tuesday police took the CPI and CPM state secretaries K.Ramakrishna and P.Madhu at Srikakulam and along with them police detained YSRCP leaders, Dharmana Krishna Das, MV.Padmavathi, party district president, Reddy Shanthi and other noted leaders at their residences and party offices across the district.
