Kadapa: Until the Collector made a visit, officials are not aware Yekiripalle, a remote hamlet located on the borders of Nallamala-Seshachalam forest, has no medical and basic facilities. The 2,500-odd population hamlet is located in between two hills under the Polapothuru panchayat in Rajampet mandal.

  • Collector trekked for 7 km and visited Yekiripalle in August month
  • Rs 20 lakh sanctioned for laying an approach road between Yekiripalle and Baggidipalle
  • No medical and basic facilities in Yekiripalle

As there is no PHC, people were forced to carry the patients and victims attacked by wild animals on a cloth cradle supported by two long sticks up to Baggidipalle village located at a distance of 7 km to reach the main road. Even, an approach road was not laid to the village by the successive governments.

Yekiripalle sarpanch T Ramasubbamma said that children of the village are attending a government high school by walking 7 km through a dense forest. “Parents are in the grip of fear that their children might be attacked by animals or bitten by poisonous snakes,” she added. The village has only primary school and parents, who are agricultural labourers, doesn’t want their children to send them for high school.

Instead, they are also becoming agricultural labourers after completing primary education. A villager Pratap Reddy told The Hans India that villagers provide first-aid to victims whenever they were attacked by animals or bitten by snakes.

In the month of August, District Collector T Baburao Naidu had visited the village by walking 7 km and interacted with villagers. He immediately sanctioned Rs 20 lakh for laying a road from Yekiripalle to Baggidipalle. The Collector told The Hans India that he was moved by the plight of villagers and assured to extend all support for the development of the village by bringing to the notice of the government.

There are several villages like Yekiripalle located in hillock areas of Rajampet mandal. An approach road up to 4 km from the total of 7 km was laid between Yekiripalle to Baggidipalle. Rajampet MLA and Government Whip Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy informed The Hans India that remaining 3 km road would be laid soon.
