GGH to render super speciality services

Vijayawada: The Government General Hospital in Vijayawada would render super specialty services like heart and bypass surgeries, kidney transplantation, surgical gastroenterology, critical care soon.

At present, the government is constructing a five-floor building complex at a cost of Rs 150 core on the hospital premises for this purpose, which is expected to be completed by December. The five-floor building contains 10 operation theatres. As soon as this building complex was completed, the government would start super specialty services in the hospital.

Right now, the poor patients, who are suffering from heart problems, are going to the GGH in Guntur city. The government will set up a Cath Lab in the hospital. The medical college officials sent a proposal to the director of medical and health to sanction professor, associate and assistant professors posts in cardiothoracic surgery, urology, nephrology, surgical gastroenterology and critical care.

The medical and health department has to sanction additional budget to the hospital. GGH superintendent Dr G Chakaradhara Rao, said: “The government is developing the hospital needs of the people and making arrangements to start super specialty medical services in the GGH as soon as new building complex is constructed.
