Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to take all necessary steps to control seasonal deceases in the state and distribute 21 lakh mosquito nets to all districts in the state within 10 days.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting with officials of medical and family welfare department at CM camp office here on Thursday. He enquired with officials about the steps being taken to control mosquito menace in the state and told them to provide necessary equipment in laboratories in government hospitals to conduct tests for patients.

“Officials are well aware of the time when the seasonal deceases strike but their response is very poor in taking comprehensive measures to prevent the spreading of deceases,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he would conduct monthly reviews on medical and health department and the department must implement ‘people first’ system giving first priority to patients.

“There is no shortage of resources and funds in the department but the lack of dedication of officials and staff of health department is leading several problems,” the Chief Minister said.

Minister for panchayat raj and IT Nara Lokesh told the Chief Minister that the panchayat raj department had taken up publicity programmes to create awareness among the people on seasonal deceases. “We have taken certain measures to ensure clean roads and drains in villages and are providing safety drinking water to all villages,” he said.

When the officials explained to the Chief Minister that 1.46 crore medical tests had been conducted to 40.90 lakh patients under NTR Health Scheme, the Chie Minister said he did not want the figures but increasing satisfaction of people/ He also suggested that more focus should be put in agency areas where the risk of seasonal deceases was high.

“I was told that doctors are not interested to work in agency areas. I was giving assurance to them the government would take a policy decision to address the issues of doctors working in agency areas,” he said.
