Vempalli: APCC vice-president N Tulasi Reddy on Thursday wondered as to how YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s padayatra would benefit the state and its people. In a statement here, he ridiculed the YSRCP leaders for resorting to boasting on the yatra, while urging them to explain the benefits the state would receive.

The Congress leader wondered whether the padayatra would fetch the special status to the state and or if Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra get funds under the special package. He posed questions to Jagan like whether the padayatra would result in sanction of a steel plant to Kadapa district and Dugarajapatnam port for Nellore district and if additional funds for the state capital would be received from the Centre and would Polavaram project get completed on time.

The APCC leader also sought to know if the padayatra would result in release of Rs.5 lakh crore Central funds to the state. He said if all these projects and funds were received by the state then only it can progress, while urging the Centre to release funds.Tulasi Reddy while pointing out that since the YSRCP cannot come to power at the Centre, these funds have to be necessarily released by either the BJP or the Congress government.

“Yet with the NDA in power no such funds were being released,” he said.. He claimed that the Congress was the only party which could make available these funds to the state, while asserting that Jagan’s padayatra would result in only pain for him without yielding anything for Andhra Pradesh.
