As the Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday, very heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Anantapur and Kurnool districts.

Hyderabad: As the Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday, very heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Anantapur and Kurnool districts. There was heavy rain at isolated places in Kadapa district while thunderstorm with lightning occurred in Coastal and Rayalaseema districts during the day.

Favourable conditions are likely to develop for further withdrawn of monsoon from remaining parts of the country in the next three-four days, the Met department bulletin said. A low-pressure area is likely to develop over the east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood around October 15 onwards. The trough from the cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea and its neighbourhood to Vidarbha across Konkan, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada at 1.5 km above the mean seal level has become less marked.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded in the state were: Kamalapuram (Kadapa) 9, Pamidi (Anantapur) 8, Rayachoti (Kadapah) 7, Banaganapalle (Kurnool), Lepakshi (Anantapur), Proddutur (Kadapa), Dornipadu (Kurnool), Jammalamadugu (Kadapa), Chittoor, Kanekal, Guntakal (Anantapur), Palamaner (Chittoor), Owk (Kurnool) 6 each and Vallur (Kadapa), Thambalapalle (Chittoor), Kunurpi, Settur (both in Anantapur), Jupadu Bungalow (Kurnool), Sullurpeta (Nellore) 5 each. There was four cm of rain each in Rolla (Anantapur), Agali, Kalyandrug (both in Anantapur), Lam (Guntur) and 3 cm each in Brahmasamudram (Anantapur), Allagadda (Kurnool), Bathalapalle (Anantapur), Kuppam (Chittoor), Chinnamandem (Kadapa), Uravakonda (Anantapur).
