It said thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and lightning occurred at isolated places in all coastal districts.

Thunderstorms with gusty winds lashed all Rayalaseema districts on Friday. According to the bulletin, a low pressure area is very likely to develop over the east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood around October 15 and concentrate into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours and move northwest wards.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay and adjoining Andaman Sea now lies over the south-west and adjoining south-east Bay, extending up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level. During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am, the southwest monsoon was normal over the coastal and Rayalaseema districts. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Kadapa and Chittoor districts of Rayalaseema. Arogyavaram in Chittoor district recorded 11 cm of rain.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Atlur (Kadapa) 9, Santhipuram (Chittoor), Atmakur (Kurnool) 5 each, Madanapalle (Chittoor), Holagunda (Kurnool), Thottambedu (Chittoor), Guntur Paleru Bridge (Krishna), Bestavaripeta (Prakasam) 3 each, Ardhaveedu (Prakasam), Alur (Kurnool), Srikalahasti, Kuppam (both Chittoor) and Kamalapuram (Kadapa) 2 each.

There was one cm of rain each in Koyyalagudem, Shar, Bapatla, Chintalapudi, Gudivada, Markapur, Madakasira, Koilkuntla and Nandikotkur. The forecast said light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few/isolated places in coastal and Rayalaseema districts from October 14 to 17. No large change during the subsequent three days is the weather outlook.
