Mock drill held on rescue & relief operations
A mock drill on \'Rescue and relief operations\' was carried out by a group of Civil Defence Organisation (CDO) volunteers at Visakhapatnam Railway Station here on Friday.
Visakhapatnam: A mock drill on 'Rescue and relief operations' was carried out by a group of Civil Defence Organisation (CDO) volunteers at Visakhapatnam Railway Station here on Friday.
As many as 50 volunteers and employees of East Coast Railways and South-Western Railways organised the mock drill in association with CDO.
As part of exercise, some of the volunteers played the role of victims and others as rescuers.
The activities such as firefighting, rescuing victims from multi-storey building with ropes were taken up. Emphasis was laid on different rescue methods to be followed by the CDO volunteers. Importance of working in tandem with medical teams as well as with other departments was stressed.
The mock drill was conducted under the guidance of Senior Divisional Safety Officer, East Coast Railway, Waltair, AK Moharana. G Kamesan, a retired civil defence inspector, explained the works of CDO volunteers to the public who were watching the rehearsal.
